Polypropylene Glycol

Chemical Name:
Polypropylene Glycol
Trade Names:
KEPPG
Introduction:

Polypropylene glycols (PPGs) are condensation polymers of Propylene oxide and water with the general formula H(OCH2CH2(CH3))nOH. Chemically they are polyether. PPGs are clear, viscous liquids with low pour points. Viscosity increases and water solubility decreases with increasing molecular weight. PPGs linear polymers containing two terminal hydroxyl groups. PPG has many properties in common with polyethylene glycol. Solubility in water decreases rapidly with increasing molar mass. Secondary hydroxyl groups in PPG are less reactive than primary hydroxyl groups in polyethylene glycol.

Different grades:
KEPPG 500, KEPPG 1000, KEPPG 2000, KEPPG 3000
General Applications:

Polypropylene glycols (PPGs) are used in many formulations for polyurethanes. They are used as rheology modifiers. They are also used as thickener in many products and in toothpaste to prevent bacteria from breaking down the pyrophosphates used to control tartar buildup.
